"I've been a volunteer firefighter for about fifteen years. My great uncle was chief of a fire department in North Jersey in Essex Fells and because of him I became a fireman right before 9/11 happened, actually. So I wasn't motivated by 9/11 like most people were to join a volunteer service, and right before I got out of the academy all the guys from my academy were called to New York City the same day the Towers fell. I spent 21 days there."
