Underground Communication

"Are mushrooms at all like people?"
"Yeah! Did you know that mushrooms can communicate with each other through their mycelium underground? They can tell each other about different contaminants, bug infestations. It's intense!" 

I should have asked what "mycelium" are but was too embarrassed.
