Northampton Street "C'mere BooBoo," she said, her daughter toddling away. "We're gonna have our picture taken!" "What has she taught you?" I asked. "Responsibility. I grew up in Easton, here since kindergarden. I was a loose cannon when I was in high school. EHS was a good school--I was in all college prep classes, but I just got in a lot of trouble. Now I'm 25 and it's very different." Second Street "I got a pit bull also, and they get a bad rap, but this guy's attitude is more like a pit bull, and the pit bull's is like this guy should be. I rescued him, you know. These kids were being kids and pulling on his ears. He bit them and they were gonna put him down so I took him. He's got a huge heart." Second and Northampton "I'm a mechanic by trade. I used to work on cars. And for Water and Sewer. Now I'm down to dishwasher at a restaurant. And...well...it's work." "What would you say to people who don't have a job or know where their next meal is coming from?" "That's me. I got seven kids. I don't know where my next meal is coming from." Centre Square by Crayola "What advice do you have?" "That's a good one... Let's see... Okay, Number one is 'The Universe Is Round.'" "That's cool." "Yeah. And Number Two: 'If you want to move up in life, learn your surroundings.'" "Is is always important to move up in life?" I asked. "Of course," he said. "No one wants to be at the bottom..." |
