"What makes you happy?" "I don't get this question, 'What makes you happy…' I don't know. I write books--I'm on my third and final one." "What's it called?" "Cry In The Sky. It's about God, UFOs, Ancient Mayans, archaeology, our life. (smiles) What makes us happy!"

Bank Street "What's the scariest thing that happened to you while you were hiking?" "I ran out of food, and I was five days away from food." "What did you do?" "I practiced my 'sparkling-blue-eyes technique, and when someone came by with a big pack, I'd look at them and say, 'That pack looks heavy--bet it's got a lot of food in it,' and they'd say, 'Are you hungry?'" Washington Street "I want all PA kids to succeed, and that's why I'm advocating for high quality preschool for all three- and four-year-olds. My own children were ready to learn and socialized when they got to kindergarten because they were able to go to a high quality pre-K, and families shouldn't be shut out because they can't afford it for their own kids." Washington Street "You keep kids off the street by keeping them occupied. If they stay dormant, that's when trouble finds 'em. At this point in the city, our youth, especially K through sixth, they're the ones who need activities to do. You got a lot of single families who need a father figure--I got a guy who graduated years ago who still calls me 'Coach.' That's touching." |
